Update

We left Longreach 2 Sep and headed East. With its new gearbox the Landy performed beautifully towing the van and we were very excited to get back on the road again. The idea of moving to a 4x4 IVECO Daily was on our minds but with the Landy performing so well our conversations on any change-over vehicle was only half-hearted. But after long hours of conversation reviewing our time on the road to date, we had a better idea of what we needed to continue traveling long term.

First and most important was a reliable vehicle that had the carrying capacity to sustain our lifestyle on the road. One of the things we missed were our bikes. We had taken them on our last trip and found it was not practical the way we had them set up as they got covered in dust. There were tools and equipment that Don would need foir work and also my easel and art materials that we had not had room for in the Landrover. These were things that in the long term we would definitely miss.

We began to rethink the idea of getting the truck. Although not the main topic of conversation as we drove along, each of us was mulling it over during our 'quiet' periods. Every couple of hours I would say……"What percentage are you now for getting the truck?". Each time we were pretty much on par with each other's thoughts. By the time we had reached Yepoon, we had both gone off the idea again but heading South the next day we were right back up there again in the 80%.

We reached Brisbane and headed to Ridgeline (Iveco Daily agent) to discuss it again, still not sure of our decision. We had another look at the twin cab we were interested in and without any further discussion between us, we both knew we had made our decision. We camped at Bribie Island for the next two weeks whilst everything was made ready on it then headed South in the IVECO with the Landy having an easy ride home on the back of a transport.

Our new adventure begins.
